12:05 PM InterActiveCorp-backed (IACI +1.1%) Aereo succeeds in getting an unfair competition claim that was part of a lawsuit attempting to shut down its $12/month local TV streaming service dismissed. A ruling is still pending on a copyright infringement claim. Broadcasters such as CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox accuse Aereo of depriving them of retransmission fees from pay-TV providers (ed: the pay-TV providers aren't thrilled about paying for content that's aired for free).

- 7:10 AM Comcast (CMCSA) launches Xfinity TV on its X1 next-generation cloud-enabled TV platform. The company says the service - available soon for HD/DVR customers - will use cloud servers to integrate customized apps, social media, and traditional video services - all controlled by an iPhone or iPod touch if desired. [Consumer]
- Monday 11:58 AM Hulu continues to add to its arsenal of original content (previous). The latest additions include movie-review show Spoilers, travel series Up to Speed, and U.K.-based comedy Rev. Netflix (NFLX) has been investing in plenty of original content of its own. [Tech, Consumer]
- Monday 11:36 AM Comcast's (CMCSA +0.2%) Universal Studios ups the ante in its bid to take more market share from Disney's (DIS +0.2%) array of amusement parks with new attractions linked to the highly-popular Harry Potter series of books and movies - as well as debuting rides based on Transformers and Spider-Man. Though Disney says a rising tide lifts all boats in the Orlando market, privately execs fret over the gains Universal has made.
- Monday 8:40 AM Cable giants Bright House Networks, Cablevision (CVC), Cox Communications, Comcast (CMCSA), and Time Warner Cable (TWC) announce that they will allow high-speed Internet customers to share each other's Wi-Fi networks in metropolitan areas as a value-added service. The 50K hotspots under the new CableWiFi banner will attempt to carve out market share from wireless carriers. [Consumer]
- Monday 6:56 AM Analysts warn that a disappointing opening weekend from Universal Picture's Battleship may dent the profits at parent Comcast (CMCSA). The film only brought in $23.4M in ticket sales, well-below the $55.1M Disney's (DIS) The Avengers raked in for its third weekend on screens and a far cry from its projected opening weekend break-even mark of +$50M in sales. [Consumer]
- Friday 7:06 AM Comcast's (CMCSA) Universal debuts the next movie that will attempt to knock Disney's The Avengers off its high perch this weekend when Battleship hits the screens. Though analysts project the sci-fi film will rake in a healthy $35M-$40M, they see it falling short of The Avengers which is still "tracking out the window."
